Important Notes on Membership
-
Both
spouses are considered members, but share a single vote. The age of the older
partner determines the initiation fee.
-
Domestic
Partnerships shall have all the benefits accorded to a married couple. Domestic
Partners are two adults who have
chosen to share one another’s lives in an intimate and committed relationship
and meet the following eligibility criteria: Each person must be
the sole domestic partner
of the other and intend to remain so, be at least 18 years
old and mentally
able to enter into a contract, not currently married to another
person, have shared
a primary
place of
residence with their partner for at least two years and intend to do so
indefinitely, and be jointly responsible for
each other’s welfare and for financial obligations to RYC. This does not
include roommates, siblings, parents or other
similar relationships.
-
Those
who change their membership category from Associate
to Regular, or from (Special or Standard)
Youth/Collegiate to Associate or Regular must pay as a
conversion fee, the difference between the current initiation fee for the old and new membership
categories. Under RYC Bylaw 6.15c such memberships will be credited 20% of the conversion fee for each full year of active
membership toward the increase in the initiation fee, up to 80%.
RYC Membership Notes
- Associate Membership is limited to those who do not possess a financial interest in a boat.
- Senior Membership may be requested by a Regular or Associate member who has been a member of RYC for at least 25 years, is at least 75 years old and does not own a boat. The older of two partners in a family membership determines the qualifying age.
- Current and past RYC Junior members and or participants in an RYC Junior or Youth sailing program are eligible for Special Youth/Collegiate membership. These individuals must pay a conversion/initiation fee but will owe no yearly dues until reaching age 25, when Youth Collegiate membership terminates.
