Local Driving Instructions
To get to Richmond Yacht Club, take 580 to the Canal Blvd exit. Turn south on Canal (a right turn if coming from the Richmond-San Rafael bridge, a left turn if coming from Berkeley), go one block, and turn right onto Cutting. Go 2 blocks on Cutting and turn left on Garrard. Continue on Garrard through the tunnel (Garrard becomes Dornan Dr after the tunnel) and make the first left turn onto Brickyard Cove Rd. BRIDGE TOLLS are collected when crossing in one direction only -- when exiting from San Francisco onto the Golden Gate Bridge ($6) or the Bay Bridge ($4) and when going from Point Richmond towards Marin County over the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge ($4). Crossing the other direction is free. The tolls listed are for a 2-axle vehicle. All three bridges offer free passage to carpools, each bridge having its own criteria and timing for this free passage.
Airport Options
- Oakland International Airport (OAK)– To get to RYC you can:
- Drive 22 miles, which typically takes from 25 to 40 minutes depending on traffic. There are no bridges to cross, but you may run into bridge traffic.
- Take an AirBART shuttle to the Oakland Coliseum/Airport BART station, then BART (Richmond train) to either the Del Norte or El Cerrito Station, and then a taxi to RYC. DO NOT go to the Richmond Station.
- Take a shuttle or taxi. Point Richmond is located in Contra Costa County in the East Bay.
- San Francisco International Airport (SFO) – some options for getting from the airport to RYC:
- Drive 29 miles, crossing the bay on the Bay Bridge, which typically takes 30 to 80 minutes depending on traffic. (If there's a major problem on the Bay Bridge, you use the Golden Gate Bridge and then the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge to reach Point Richmond instead.)
- Take BART directly from the airport's International Terminal. BART will take you through San Francisco and then under the Bay. You will need to transfer trains one or two times and eventually want the Richmond train to either the Del Norte or El Cerrito Plaza station and then a taxi to RYC. DO NOT go to the Richmond Station.
- Take a shuttle or taxi. Point Richmond is located in Contra Costa County in the East Bay. (Note: You can take the Marin Airporter from SFO to its Larkspur terminal, but will then need a ride/taxi across the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge to Point Richmond.)
- Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC) - To get to RYC you can:
- Drive 53 miles, which typically takes 56-90 minutes depending on traffic.
- Take public VTA buses to the Fremont BART station; eventually you want a Richmond train to either the Del Norte or El Cerrito Plaza station and then a taxi to RYC. (DO NOT go to the Richmond Station). For more information on these and other options, click here.
