Dear Friends of the Richmond Yacht Club Foundation,

The Richmond Yacht Club Foundation has had another successful year in our continuing efforts to support local sailors' participation in events at the highest competitive levels. All of you who made donations to the Foundation this year can be justifiably proud of the Foundation's work, and more importantly, of the accomplishments of its grantees. It is your generosity that makes this all possible.

This year the Foundation has been particularly busy helping our outstanding Club and area adult, youth, and junior sailors by funding participation at regional, national, and international events. Typically, we help with registration fees, charters and travel expenses. Over 20 grants have been awarded so far this year, and several more significant requests are expected before the end of the year. Events have included National and International Championships around the country, in Europe and in Australia. Our grant recipients have competed in fleet and match racing championships. Single-handed, double-handed and full keelboat teams have been supported. All told, more than $25,000 in grants has been awarded, ranging from a few hundred dollars for a single event to $5,000 for a well-planned and executed campaign. In addition, the Foundation has assisted in the promotion of Junior and Youth sail training by underwriting the acquisition of additional on-the-water resources to meet the demand generated by the phenomenal growth in these programs.

We cannot do this work without your help. Your tax deductible $25 donation will help us continue the Foundation's mission of promoting our sport, particularly among younger sailors. If you can help with a larger amount or a donation in another form such as a boat, automobile, saleable equipment, stocks or real estate, it would allow us to do even more next year. If you would like information regarding naming the Foundation in your will or trust, please contact us.

Thank you very much for your generous support.

Very truly yours,

Tim Knowles
