Thursday, 9/14 - RYC to Benicia Marina about 18 miles.Plan to arrive in time for Happy Hour about 1700 before heading ashore for dinner. On arrival, check in with the harbormaster at the fuel dock to learn where to dock and get your gate key.
Friday, 9/15 - Benicia to Tinsely Island about 36 miles.Course: Head for Pittsburg - then East up the San Joaquin River (main channel) to G “25”. Take False River (keep close to the port levee & watch depth). Re-enter the main channel at R“54”- starboard rounding - then head 120 degrees to R “12”.
Saturday, 9/16 - Tinsley Island to Stockton Sailing Club about 6 miles.A short hop at 120 degrees down the main shipping channel to SSC: if you pass G “41” you missed your port turn into their harbor. On arrival, tie up at the hoist basin while getting an assigned slip. It will be busy; it’s the ‘Chiliburger Regatta’ for small boats. Susan, the club manager, said they will fit us in on H or I Docks (away from party noise) We can join the racing crowd, go to town or cook on our boats.
Sunday, 9/17 - Stockton Sailing Club to Potato Slough about 7 miles to anchorage area A favorite spot for the RYC July 4th Delta Cruise. Take the main shipping channel to G”53”.Turn into Potato Slough and head East a short distance - follow the boats to a safe anchorage.
Monday, 9/18 & 9/19 - Potato Slough to Ox Bow Marina - about 6 milesTake the main shipping channel to G”49” & head north on Mokelumne River – past bridge – to Georgiana Slough and Ox Bow Marina. Oxbow has complete facilities: showers, swimming pool, laundry, groceries, ice, pump-out and fuel dock. We have reserved space for two nights. Oxbow has a great BBQ area which we have reserved for both nights.
Wednesday 9/20 - Ox Bow to Delta Marina at Rio Vista – about 15 milesTake Georgiana Slough to Walnut Grove – then West & South on the Sacramento River. The Delta Marina is just minutes below the Rio Vista Bridge. Showers are available and there are tables and benches on the grass for a happy hour gathering before dinner at The Point restaurant.
Thursday 9/21 Rio Vista to Pittsburg Yacht Club - about 14 miles down the Sacramento River We are invited to join the club in their ‘Anniversary Birthday Potluck Party’. Bring appetizers or a salad - but no dessert – they will have a birthday cake. We have been assured that there will be plenty of room for our boats.
Friday 9/22 Pittsburg Yacht Club to Caliente Isle Yacht Club – about 16 miles Head NE on the San Joaquin River to G”25”. Turn East into False River – 2 miles to Ferry – South into Piper Slough (we will discuss the best course to the yacht club before leaving Pittsburg).
Saturday 9/23 Caliente Isle Yacht Club A catered dinner at the Yacht Club for our final day in the Delta.
Sunday 9/24 Caliente Isle Yacht Club to RYC – about 48 miles Its time to pack up our rubber boats and get ready for the long sail back to S.F. Bay and head for Richmond Yacht Club with our nose into the wind all the way. |
